US Drone Strike killed Senior Al Qaeda leaders in Pakistan

At least six senior Al Qaeda commanders were reportedly killed in recent drone strikes in tribal regions of Pakistan.

Al Qaeda leadership has confirmed that their commanders were killed in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan tribal region, Pakistani media agencies reported.

Sanafi al-Nasr, head of Al Qaeda victory  committee based in Syria confirmed through a social media website that Al Qaeda commanders were killed during the drone strikes carried out on 10th July.

Taj Al Makki, Abu Abdur Rahman Al Kuwaiti and Fayez Awda Al Khalidi were among those killed in the airstrike, Nasr said.

Mustafa Abu Yazid, al Qaeda’s local commander was also reportedly killed in the US drone strike.

The details of the Al Qaeda network members killed in the strike were not disclosed.

All those killed in the airstrike were reported as mid level Al Qaeda network commanders but were considered important to the group.

US Drone have continually been hovering over North Waziristan and hitting its targets after a break of a couple of months. Pakistan Army has also launched a massive operation, Zarb-e-Azb, against militants in the area.

Civilians have deserted North Waziristan and are living in IDP camps and other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. However, the total number of IDPs has surpassed 1 million figure, making it extremely difficult for the government to cater for such a huge number of people.
