TTP’s Hakimullah Mehsud Killed in a CIA Operated Drone Strike

Hakimullah Mehsud, the leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has been killed in a drone strike in North Waziristan. Two of his close vice leaders have also been killed in this attack, officials say. Mr. Mehsud became the leader of TTP in 2009 after the death of Baitullah Mehsud in a similar Drone Strike.

The attack took place when different TTP commanders were having a meeting at the house of Hakimullah Mehsud. Many different important TTP commanders got killed as a result of this attack. TTP has confirmed the death of its leader. Also, Khan Sayed Sanjana has been declared new leader of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

This important development comes at a time when Pakistan was sending three of it’s negotiators to formally start the negotiation process with the Taliban. However, these negotiators have been stopped from going in due to this new Drone Strike.

TTP is considered close to Al-Qaeda and have been instrumental in orchestrating different attacks against United States. The dreaded attack on CIA agents was also carried out by TTP. This is why US had put a $5 Million bounty on his head.
