America’s day begins on one of its most strategic territories, Guam. Tourists and locals alike revere the island as a safe haven of tranquility and beauty. It’s strategic location in the Pacific has also provided the U.S. Military with a stronghold within the area .

Currently there is both a Navy and an Air Force base on island and they provide a certain sense of security for those on island and for the mainland. But amidst the calm felt in this Micronesian island, terrorists are still just as present as they are in larger countries.

A group of individuals that call themselves “The Evacuation Squad” have been present since the beginning of this year as a number of schools and major malls have been evacuated on various “bomb threats”. Although many students and employees view this as time off from school and work, this group still strikes fear within the population.

The Naval Base and the Air Force base on island are both equipped with EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) teams that are prepared to neutralize any situation, but if not informed on time it is expected that consequences could be drastic.

This specific group has also threatened the United Kingdom, Hawaii, Paris, Japan, and the United States. It is clear that around the world there are people that would like to use social media platforms as a way to reach people around the world to voice their opinions or in this case to just simply wreak havoc.

Twitter has addressed these problems by responding to reports and taking down their accounts but it is apparent that children and young adults around the island and maybe even around the world view this as a null means to get out of school. Pranks just aren’t as innocent as they use to be and these threats need to be addressed more seriously.
