Mohmand Agency: Security forces today warned Mohmand tribal elders against sheltering militants in the area. The warning came from Mohmand Rifles Sector Commander Commandant Hafiz Asif Iqbal while he was addressing the Mohmand tribal Jirga here in Jirga hall in Ghallanai, the head quarter of Mohmand tribal region.

The Jirga was also attended by Political Agent Mohmand, Mahmood Aslam Wazir, APAS, Col Umair and tribal elders from all the sub tribes of the agency.

Recently, the law and order situation has become worst in the agency and this Jirga was convened as an attempt to counter this deteriorating situation.

Addressing the participants of Jirga, Commandant Asif Iqbal said that cooperation of the agency residents was very important to restore peace in the area.

“The responsibility is on the shoulders of the local elders to identify the militants in their vicinity and inform security forces”, he said.

“I am giving you one month deadline to identify anti-state elements and hand over them to the security forces otherwise forces will launch an operation and the whole residents of the agency will become IDPs like those of South Waziristan”, he further said.

The political administration warned that the domicile, passport, and national identity card of terrorist facilitators will be canceled and their properties will also be confiscated.

It should be mentioned here that unknown militants distributed pamphlets in Kakh Dukanunu area of the agency few days ago warning people not to cooperate with administration or face dangerous consequences.

Security forces have closed Khakh Dukanono bazar for unspecified period of time.

Mohmand Agency is on high target of militants as just two days ago two FC personnel were killed in a IED blast in the agency.
