Javed Hashmi or Amir Dogar, Multan had to choose between the two independent candidates in NA-149 constituency. For PTI followers, Amir Dogar was not important, no body cared to find out who he was, they just wanted to beat Javed Hashmi for betraying them. In the end, that is what happened, Javed hashmi  lost the election by a margin of almost 14,000 votes.

During a press conference, Javed Hashmi accepted his defeat and said he would go to China to seek medical treatment. Disappointment was evident in his tone when he announced his defeat. “I had said earlier that I would congratulate anyone who would win the election”, he said.

PMLN had campaigned heavily for Mr. Hashmi and different personal secretary of Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and different ministers were present in Multan to oversee the election campaign. However, their efforts could not bring the expected results.

PTI vice chairman, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, lauded Javed Hashmi’s defeat and said that PTI tigers had done a good job. “The rabbit has eaten the lion”, said Shah Mehmood while referring to Amir Dogar’s electoral symbol Rabbit and PMLN’s Lion.
