Mohmand Agency: The local administration along with Haleemzai tribal elders demolished over 12 houses of suspected militants during a search operation in Haleemzai Tehsil of Mohmand tribal region on Wednesday.

Local political administration conducted the demolition operation in areas of Mian Gan, Shani khel, Sami khel, Khwajawas and Durba khel. The houses of suspected militants were demolished with explosive materials.

The local administration had handed over a wanted-men list to the elders of Haleemzai tribe to demolish their houses. “We conducted the operation with the help of tribal elders of Haleemzai”, a political administration official said.

Three days ago security forces had warned local tribesmen in a Jirga to perform their collective role in rooting out the militancy otherwise forces can conduct operation Zarb e Azb 3 in the area.

The law and order situation is not satisfactory in Mohmand Agency as security forces and peace committee members are being targeted with IEDs on a daily bases.

The Ghiaba Levy check post was also targeted with heavy weapons that resulted in the death of one levy personal.

Besides, the militants also attack the local population by crossing the Afghan border and are also involved in kidnapping for ransom and extortion in the area.

After the successful military operation against militants in the area, Haleemzai tribe has held various Jirgas in the area and reached a consensus that the houses of militants as well as their backers would be demolished.

Today’s demolition of houses was the start of such joint activities with local administration. It shows the tribe’s resolve to fully support security forces by not allowing any anti-state elements in the area.
