Libya: Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni resigns in the middle of a TV show

Libya’s Prime Minister Abdullah al-Thinni surprisingly resigned in the middle of a television show.

Al-Thinni resignation came after he was confronted with many heated questions from the people who were unhappy with his government. People of Libya blamed Al-Thinni’s government for the lack of basic services like shortage of power supply, security in the areas he controls and allegation of corruption against his government.

Therefore Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni announced, “If my exit is the solution, then I announce it here, my resignation will be submitted to the parliament on Sunday.”

The prime minister had escaped  an assassination attempt in May when gunmen opened fire on his car after a parliament meeting.
