Islamic International University: The Game of Strict Rules

International Islamic University Islamabad

The current condition of international Islamic university’s rules and regulations is getting worse by each passing day. Rules are made on “emergency basis” and are implemented only to be replaced by some other haphazardly conceived set of rules.

It seems that higher authorities don’t pay attention to the security of the country. Whenever something wrong happens, then on very short notice, strange and rather awkward rules are enforced by the management of university.

Recently, the rumor of a rape and murder of a girl by a taxi driver is considered to be the major reason of the newly implemented ridiculous rules in the campus. The new rule says that any girl who wishes to go outside would need a permission slip from the head of department.

The rule simply means that no matter what a permission slip would be necessary for a girl to go outside. All, on the pretext of protecting the girls.

What if an emergency occurs and a student has to go out? Will she wander here and there to get a permission slip from head of the department?

How pity the situation is that students are trapped in university and they cannot move freely if they wanted. Universities are made with the purpose of providing an easy pathway towards higher education but in International Islamic university students are banned to explore the outside world.

Although it is absolutely possible that some university students could be involved in cheap practices, but it’s not right to punish the whole university for their doings. Rather, authorities should punish those students who are involved in such unethical activities.

A logical step would be to verify and register all taxi drivers with university and only allow such drivers to operate. So if something wrong happens, at least drivers or students can be traced. Also, they could run a university transport system more efficiently for girls.

The university, in short, is losing its value day by day. It is an alarming situation and would raise many serious issues in future if such rules remain implemented.
