Imran Khan lambasts Govt for workers’ arrests amid One Nation Day

Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan says that he recommends Shah Mehmood Qureshi to stop dialogue process with government amid widespread arrests of party workers. “Our workers coming from Peshawar and others areas have been arrested,” said Imran Khan.

PMLN government has once again containerized whole Islamabad and every entry point to the capital has been blocked. The latest move comes as PTI plans to celebrate One Nation Day this Saturday on 13th September.

Through One Nation Day, PTI aims to give a message of equality and to urge the people to become one nation by forgetting religious and or ethnic differences. “We want to unite people under one slogan, and that is, Pakistan,” said PTI information secretary Shireen Mazari.

13th September is significant because it marks the completion of one-month continuous sit-in by PTI and PAT. This is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan. Even many in PTI were not sure that they would be able to hold a sit-in for so long.

PMLN government, however, was sure that the sit-in won’t last more than two weeks. The pervasive belief among government circles was that people would lose energy and stop taking interest in these sit-ins after two weeks.

However, a large number of people continue to take part in the sit-in despite many problems such blocked roads, fear of arrests, and most importantly, a fear of a terrorist attack.
