Historic Decision: PM Nawaz Sharif disqualified in Panama case

In a historic decision, the five member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, has disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. “Prime Minister has been disqualified from his post”, said Justice Ijaz Afzal who authored the decision.

Justice Ijaz Afzal said, “On 20th April two justices of the supreme court had disqualied Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Three judges however said a JIT should be formed to further investigate the matter.

“Todays decision is a unanimous decision that disqualifies the Prime Minister”, said Justice Ijaz Afzal.

The decision to disqualify Nawaz Sharif was a unanimous decision.

Furthermore, the court sent the corruption against Nawaz Sharif and his children to NAB. “NAB should file a reference against respondents in two weeks”, said the decision

NAB reference should be filed against Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Safdar, Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Captain Safdar, and Ishaq Dar, said Justice Ijaz Afzal.

The original five member had constituted a Joint Investigation Team to further probe the matter. The JIT in its findings had concluded that Nawaz Sharif and his family was involved in corruption and money laundering and that NAB references should filed against them.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi termed the verdict against Prime Minister a historic decision. “It is a unanimous decision and we want to thank Allah”, he said.
