Saifullah Khalid the current Chief Executive of the Daily Ummat news paper visited Journalism department of Peshawar university on Friday. He delivered a lecture on the role of media and the lack of true professionalism in todays journalists.

Mr. Khalid regretted that journalistic norms were being violated and there seemed to be no focus on the developmental aspect of the journalism. He said, new entrants in the field of journalism were to change this trend and play a role in the positive development of the society, which was the primary role of any journalist.

The attendants of the conference were students enrolled in Development Journalism, which is a three month course organized by Department of Journalism and Mass Communications University of Peshawar, in collaboration with a German organization GIZ and FATA Secretariat. The students raised several questions during the question and answer session and fledged their resolve to be the catalyst of change by playing a positive role in the practical field of journalism.
