Geeta is hopeful to be united with her family in India the same way Munni, a deaf and mute girl in the Bollywood hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan starring Salman Khan, gets united with her family in Pakistan.

Geeta a 23-year-old is a hearing and speech impaired woman who has been stranded in Pakistan from the last 15 years. Experts say that she could belong to some vulnerable family in Jharkhand.

A Pakistani activist Ansar Burney is helping her to reunite with her family, by taking help from the Indian minister Sushma Swaraj to offer official help in the cross-border search.

After studying the samples of writing by the woman which were shared on the social media by the activists, Tribal language experts in Jharkhand said that they see strong resemblance to the Malto dialect of the Pahariya tribal community that lives in small pockets in the state’s Santhal Pargana region.

“The words she has used are generally used in Malto, which is a rare dialect,” said Giridhari Ganjhu, former head of the tribal language department in Ranchi University.

Hari Oraon, a tribal language researcher also agreed that Geeta’s writing style looks similar to that of Malto.

“It also has a Bangla touch to it, which is common in dialects of Jharkhand due to the state’s proximity to West Bengal,” said Oraon.

Geeta is now under the care of Pakistan’s largest Charity, Edhi foundation. According to Ansar Burney, the activist, she was brought to the NGO by the police who found her on the railway station in Lahore.
