Caught in photos by a photographer, Jiah Ali, the blue eyes of a Chai Wala (Tea Seller) were enough to capture the attention of everyone in Pakistan and India. At the time when Chai Wala went viral, the heat was intense between the two neighboring countries due to Kashmir issue. However, this handsome blue-eyed Chai Wala was the only uniting factor between the people of both countries.

His name is Arshad Khan and he is 18 years old. Following the social media hype, everyone began capturing his pictures and in no time Arshad khan was the new madness in the country. His blue eyes, fair complexion and a composed personality is what makes this boy a man of flamboyant persona.

TV channel hosts were in line to take his interview, and in the matter of a few days, he appeared on many morning shows. He was offered and signed a modelling contract with an online retailer. New shining choices fell into Arshad’s lap and he was very happy to avail them all.

He has already been included in the list of top 50 sexiest Asian men of 2016. A song “Chai Wala” by Lil Mafia Mundeer also came out, and its music video showed Arshad Khan dressed up all in suit, setting screens on fire by serving tea while being surrounded by girls. The song got over 800,000 views in no time. He was also the show stopper in the Bridal Fashion show, 2016.

Arshad Khan is receiving training for his English communication skills. He has started doing gym to shape up his body. He has also signed an agreement with a production house and is working on an upcoming film titled ‘Kabeer’, where he’s playing a role of the hero’s brother. Khan will go to USA, UK, Dubai and Japan for shoot of the film. The movie is expected to be released in 2017 on Eid ul Azha.

But the question is, will this sudden found fame last any longer? Are looks enough for the long run in media or any other profession? Without education, will he be able to compete well with other talented heroes? Can looks be compared to talent?

Looks are temporary and they don’t survive for long. How long can people keep admiring those blue eyes? Competing with heroes with much experience and education, it will be one hell of a thing to stay in the big picture. In the absence of an real talent, such instant celebrity fame proves to be ephemeral.

There is an information explosion on the internet. Everyday, someone or something goes viral. People’s memory span has become even more less. There has been many internet celebrities who have come and gone. Only few have managed to stay relevant. Will Arshad Khan be able to win against all these odds?

Only time will tell, if the Chaiwala will be able to keep up with his instant celebrity status. In the long run however, only talent will be the deciding factor.
