PTI Gujrat Jalsa

PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) is holding its Gujrat Jalsa today which is attended by a large number of people of Gujrat as well as people from adjoining cities. People have painted their faces with PTI flags and the popular anti-government slogan, Go Nawaz Go.

Zahoor Elahi Stadium, the site of the rally, has been completely filled by PTI workers. Video screens have been setup in different areas of Gujrat where people have gathered to listened to their leader.

Highly enthusiastic party workers chanted slogans in favour of change and against the forces of status quo. They said they had tried both PMLN and PPP many times and it was time for a change.

“I request every patriotic Pakistani that it is time to get out of your homes and join hands against the forces of status quo”, said a female lecturer of Gujrat University.

A big percentage of people present in Gujrat Jalsa said it was their first time attending a political rally of any part. “I have brought my three kids with me as well because I believe in Imran Khan’s message of change and I trust Imran Khan”, said a mother from Gujrat who also said it was her first time attending a rally.

Sheikh Rasheed while talking to media persons said that Dr. Tahir ul Qadri’s decision to end Islamabad dharna would not change the fact that Nawaz Sharif must go. “He has to go and he knows it himself”, he said.

“In coming few months many other forces will join Tehreek-e-Insaf”, claimed Sheikh Rasheed.

Abrar ul Huq, young leader of PTI, said that Gujrat stood by Imran Khan. “I know Gujrat from my childhood, my schooling was done in here, and I can say with conviction that every person of Gujrat is with Imran Khan in his fight against status quo”, said Abrar.

Imran Khan upon reaching Gujrat Jalsa was warmly welcomed and fans tried to reach as close to the stage as they could to see a glimpse of their leader.

On the other hand, strict security measures have been taken to ensure the safety of people. Police claims to have taken strict security measures due to the recent wave of terrorism. The strict measures were taken due to intelligence reports of possible attempts of disruption in the PTI’s Gujrat Jalsa on Friday.

Passes have been issued to 25 people who would be allowed on the main stage. “Even Imran Khan has been issued a card which he has to present to get on the stage”, said a party worker responsible for maintaining stage security.

Earlier, DCO Gujrat sent a letter to PTI informing them about threats to Imran Khan. The letter asked the party to ensure better security for its chief as the current setup was not up to the mark.
