Reham Khan terms BBC and Western media partisan and propagandists

Reham Khan, former BBC’s weather presenter, has accused BBC and Western journalists of being partisan and working on agendas to topple governments. Her remarks came after Stephen Sackur, host of BBC’s HARDtalk program, gave a hard time to Pakistan’s DAWN Media Group CEO, Hameed Haroon.

In the interview Stephen Sackur had asked Mr. Hameed about evidence of his allegations that Pakistan Army was working to sabotage democracy in his country. Hameed Haroon couldn’t give a satisfactory answer and said he inferred it from trends and trolls present on social media.

Mr. Hameed was largely ridiculed for his bizarre answer by many in Pakistan.

However, Ms. Reham Khan who too is facing severe criticism for writing a controversial book against her former husband Imran Khan, has come to Hameed’s rescue.

She also claimed that Western media had always been partisan and played a propagandist role to topple governments in other countries.

Ms. Reham herself has worked for the BBC as a weather girl till her return to Pakistan in 2013. “Reham’s statement is more of an indictment of herself than the BBC or Western media”, said Mansoor Nasir, a political commentator.

“If this is what Reham believes then it means she knowingly worked for a media organization that helps topple governments through propaganda.

“It speaks more about Reham’s character than any thing else”, he further commented.

After her divorce from Imran Khan, she has constantly been targeting him and his party. Her newly released book details explicit information of her married life with Mr. Khan as well as various other allegations.

According to reports, no publisher was ready to publish her book with so many libelous content. The company that did publish her book is owned by her son Sahir Khan. SK Publishing Ltd, was incorporated on 11th July 2018 and it lists Sahir Khan as its director.

The company, it seems, was registered for the sole purpose of publishing Reham’s book. It lists “Retail sale of books in specialized stores” as its nature of business.

A senior office holder of Tehreek-e-Insaf said on condition of anonymity that Ms. Reham was doing all she could to stay inside the news so she could sell a few more copies of her book. “At max she has seven more days [till elections] to sell a few more copies of her book as after election she, along with her book, will become history”, he said.

“This book was the final bullet she could fire and she missed big time”, he further said.
