Pakistan Telecommunication Authority reports a decline in the total number of mobile phone users across the country.

The report says that all mobile phone operators combinedly lost 22 million subscribers, dropping the total number of users to 114.7 million in the country.

Mobilink still retains the title of being the leading mobile operator with 33.42 million subscribers, while Telenor is on number second with 31.49 million subscribers.

Zong, a Chinese-owned mobile operator,  sees improvement in its ranking and is now placed at number third position with 22.10 million users while Ufone drops down to number 4th with 17.80 million customers.

Warid had some 9.91 million subscribers till the end of June, 2015.

The drop is mainly due to the recent re-verification drive that the government ran in order to biometrically verify ownership of sim cards.
