Javed Hashmi resigns leaving behind a tale of contradictions

Javed Hashmi

Javed Hashmi has resigned as the president of Tehreek-e-Insaf stating that he could not be the president of a party that desires to sabotage democracy. The resignation has formally ended his relationship with Tehreek-e-Insaf which started on 24th December, 2011.

Although Javed Hashmi is known as an upright person who believes in democracy, his recent episode with Tehreek-e-Insaf has raised many questions whether he indeed is the Baghi everybody thought he was? From 31st August when he left PTI dharna till today, Hashmi have said a lot of things that contradicts his own self on different level.

Asks Imran Khan about his agenda

The ironic thing is that, in his recent press conference, Hashmi asks Imran Khan to explain his agenda. By asking this question, Hashmi tried to give an impression that Imran Khan was trying to destabilize democracy. However, this question goes more against Javed Hashmi himself than Imran Khan. Does that mean that until 31st August 2014, Javed Hashmi was following Imran Khan blindly without knowing about his agenda?

Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen

Javed Hashmi says that Imran Khan is surrounded by people like Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen who are using the party and Imran Khan for their own vested interests. The question that arises here is that both these gentlemen were already present in the party when Javed Hashmi decided to join Tehreek-e-Insaf. Why did he still join the party?

Shah Mehmood Qureshi joined PTI on 27th November 2011, Jahangir Tareen joined on 19th December 2011, while Javed Hashmi joined the party on 24th December of 2011.

Musical shows can’t do anything

Then he says that Nawaz Sharif is not going to resign due to musical shows. He seems to have forgotten that he himself was part of these musical shows till 31st of August. Two questions arise here. Was Baghi so naive that he got inspired and joined a party which has been known for these “musical shows”? And, if he didn’t think dharnas/musical shows could have any value then why did Baghi climbed on Azadi container and became part of the movement?

Also, did he always consider PTI’s rallies as musical shows? If yes, then what was he doing there?

Hashmi’s desire to be part of PTI’s Multan Rally

When Imran Khan announced in his Lahore Jalsa that his party will hold a public rally in Multan, Javed Hashmi said that he was willing to attend the rally if Imran Khan invited him. So in simple words, Hashmi meant to be part of the same musical show that he condemned?

Request to PMLN leadership to campaign for him

He also requested PMLN leadership to campaign for him in his NA-149 constituency so that he could provide them constructive opposition in the parliament. The question is, why did he leave PMLN in the first place? Why didn’t he remain in PMLN to provide them this constructive opposition?

Now his resignation

Now today he resigned by stating that PTI was sabotaging democracy and he couldn’t be part of it. But, why did he cling on to the presidency till today? Why didn’t Baghi resign the very second he realized PTI was such an evil party?

Also from the last few days Hashmi had been forcefully asserting that he still was the president of the party and he should be consulted on party affairs. It means Hashmi was asserting to remain the president of a party that was trying to sabotage democracy?

Baghi or Daghi ?

Only time will tell whether Javed Hashmi is a Baghi or not. However, with so many visible contradictions in his personality, at least it can be said with certainty that if not Daghi, he sure doesn’t deserve being called a Baghi. He is just another politician with vested interests.
