About 40 bridges have been washed away by the recent floods in Chitral.

Another 16 people have been killed by floods due to heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan northern areas according to Police.

Chitral is worst hit by the floods this year and the latest deaths have taken the total number of dead to 32 nationwide. In addition to these fatalities, thousands of people have been cut-off from other areas of the country.

Local police official Abdul Qayyum said Saturday that rescuers the day before found the bodies of 16 people in the rubble of homes around Chitral. He said at least 20 people have been killed in Chitral since Sunday, when flash floods hit the region.

The floods have also killed 12 people in the provinces of Balochistan and Punjab.
