Bangladesh Secular Blogger Killed

Niloy Neel, a 40-year-old secular blogger, was murdered by unknown assailants inside his fourth-floor flat at North Gorhan in the capital Dhaka around 1:45 PM, Khilgaon police officer in charge Mustafizur Rahman told BD News.

According to reports, 5 assailants had entered the flat after Friday prayers and killed Niloy Neel.

Neel was living in that flat along with his family. He was an activist of the platform demanding capital punishment for the 1971 war criminals, the Ganajagaran Mancha.

Neel is not the only blogger who has been murdered in the country. Three other bloggers have been killed including 33-year-old Ananta Bijoy Das who was hacked to death, 45-year old Avijit Roy, who was a Bangladeshi-born US national, but luckily his wife narrowly escaped the attack, while Washiqur Rahman was killed in Dhaka.

Terror group Al-Qaida in the subcontinent and Radical group Ansar Bangla Team had taken the responsibility for the killing.

All those killed were Mancha activists.
