Firing from Afghan side kills Pak Army soldier

Pakistan Army’s public relations wing, ISPR, reports that a soldier on Pak-Afghan border got killed by a bullet coming from Afghan side. The incident occurred today at 11:45 AM PST. However, it is unclear yet as to who may have been responsible for the.

The 2640 kilometer long border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, called Durand Line, is loosely maintained due to its length, and Pak Army’s busy schedule on its eastern border with India. Although, 9/11 incident, and the subsequent war on terror forced Pakistani troops deployment on this western border with Afghanistan. However, the huge length is proving a big impediment for Pakistan Army to successfully maintain it due to both hostile Afghan army and Pakistani Talibans who fled Swat and took refuge in Afghanistan.

No one has yet taken responsibility of today’s incident. However, analysts are of the view that Pakistani Talibans living in Afghanistan might be responsible for it.
