A two member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Jawad S. Khwaja, has termed as illegal the appointment of the Chairman of Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). The Court thus invalidated his appointment and directed the federal government to appoint a new chairman on merit.
