Twitter Removes 140-character Limit on Direct Messages

Twitter removes 140 character limit

Now twitter users will be able to send long messages to anyone they want, as twitter has removed the 140-character limit from Direct messages.

If messages with no limit on character is blessing for some, then those who do not like reading long long messages, it can be an affliction.

The Product Manager of twitter Sachin Agarwal said about the rollout today:

“We’ll begin rolling out this change today across our Android and iOS apps, on twitter.com, TweetDeck, and Twitter for Mac. It will continue to roll out worldwide over the next few weeks. If you can’t wait to try out longer Direct Messages, be sure you’re using the latest versions of our apps so you get the update right away.”

Twitter actually had planned to remove the 140-character limit in July, but the change applies to Direct Messages only. Tweets will still have the 140-character limitation.
