Raja Pervez Ashraf Disqualified from NA 51

Raja Pervez Ashraf

Former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has been disqualified from NA 51 Gujar Khan constituency. The Election Tribunal has upheld the Returning Officer’s verdict.

The major reason of his disqualification was his involvement in Gujar Khan’s rental power project in which it is alleged that Mr. Ashraf had taken huge kick backs. Also, another reason was a contempt of court case against him. This means that Raja Sahib is out and can not take part in the upcoming general elections.

On the other hand, the Election Tribunal Multan Bench has allowed Jamshed Dasti to contest elections and has nullified his conviction in the fake degree case. The same tribunal has allowed Mr. Ahmad Ludhianvi, the chief of Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat,  to contest elections from NA 89. Mr. Ludhianvi was accused by his opponent, Sheikh Muhammad Akram, of involvement in terrorist activities.
