The book tells a story about Harry being a father and an overworked Ministry of Magic employee. The play was written based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, who wrote all seven Harry Potter books, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany.

The new book will show the “untold part” of Harry Potter’s life, including details about the lives of his murdered parents – James Potter and Lily Evans, according to Rowling herself.

The story will be told 19 years after the main characters were last seen in the last part – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The eBook of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II’ is set to be published at the same time with the print edition.

Previews of the stage play begin in May at London’s Palace Theatre, while the official opening of the play will take place on July 30. The book will be available on sale at 00:01 on July 31.

Jamie Parker has been cast to star as an adult Harry Potter, while Noma Dumezweni, who won the Olivier Award in 2006 for her role in A Raisin in the Sun, will play Hermione Granger. Paul Thornley, London Road star, is set to play Ron Weasley, the best friend of Harry Potter.

According to Rowling, the play was announced in December 2013 because the author had “received countless approaches” over the years “about turning Harry Potter into a theatrical production.”
