Caretaker government’s pre poll rigging in Nawabshah

sindh caretaker chief minister

The caretaker government of Pakistan was setup to ensure a free and fair election in the country. However, we do not see this government as functioning according to its mandate. Apparently the caretaker government of Sindh is working as a Jiala of the Pakistan’s People’s Party(PPP). In Nawabshah, there are reports that officials of the caretaker government pressurize teachers to vote and work for People’s Party.

Teachers are being blackmailed by employing various tactics to force their cooperation in favour of PPP. They are being forced to sign some kind of form and asked to work for PPP. They are warned that action would be taken against them if they did not cooperate.

It should be noted here that it is these teachers who are going to perform duties in the polling stations in the upcoming elections on May 11, 2013. This act of pressurizing and threatening teachers is pre poll rigging. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) must take notice of this issue and direct the Sindh caretaker government to work within their mandate and not to take any political party’s side.
